'''Disambiguation pages with links''' is a project that [[Wikipedia:Patrols|patrols]] the incoming links to [[Wikipedia:Disambiguation|disambiguation pages]]. These [[Wikipedia:What is an article?|non-article]] pages exist to clarify and ease confusion in cases where two or more similarly named articles exist—for example, if two or more famous people have the [[Wikipedia:Non-unique personal name|same name]]. Ideally, [[Wikipedia:Main namespace|article namespace]] pages should not link to disambiguation pages, except when the ambiguity of a term is being discussed (as in [[Wikipedia:Hatnote|hatnotes]] mentioning that a term has other meanings); instead, links should go directly to the appropriate article. Where an article intentionally links to a disambiguation page, that link should be through a "Foo (disambiguation)" redirect, to make it clear that the link is intentional. Links from non-article namespaces are allowed, but still may need to be disambiguated. Redirects to disambiguation pages (e.g. [[residuals]] redirects to [[residual]], which is a disambiguation page) are not considered to be within the article namespace for purposes of this guideline.

This page lists the disambiguation pages that ''do'' have incoming links, most of which need to be fixed.

==How to help==
# First, please familiarize yourself with [[Wikipedia:Disambiguation]], which describes guidelines about how and when to disambiguate. Please also review the [[Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages)|Manual of Style for disambiguation pages]].
# Next, choose a disambiguation page to fix from [[#Status and list parameters|the list below]]. Visit the disambiguation page you have selected, and familiarize yourself with the possible targets for links.
# Click on the [[Wikipedia:What links here|What links here]] link in the "toolbox" on the left side of the screen.
# For each page listed, visit the page. The most important pages to fix are those in the [[Wikipedia:Main namespace|Article]] and [[Wikipedia:Template namespace|Template]] namespaces. User pages and "Wikipedia:" administrative pages do not necessarily need to be fixed. Please avoid editing comments on "Talk:" pages; doing so is usually inadvisable per the [[Wikipedia:TPNO|talk page guidelines]]. It's okay for redirects to point to a disambiguation page, but articles linking to these redirects need to be fixed.
# Edit the link that goes to the disambiguation page to link to the most appropriate article listed on the disambiguation page. Be careful to avoid introducing an [[WP:Easter egg|Easter egg link]] if the new target is not an obvious synonym for the displayed link.
# To help people find this project, consider using an edit summary like the following:<br/>''<nowiki>Repairing links to disambiguation pages - [[Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages with links|You can help!]]</nowiki>''
# '''Please remember: it is more important to disambiguate correctly than to disambiguate quickly.''' Make sure you make the best choice; if you're not sure, leave a note on the talk page and let someone who has a better understanding of the subject fix it.
# Occasionally, links can simply be removed. Usually, a term should not be linked more than once in a single article or section. When the link refers to a meaning of the term for which there is ''no relevant article'', but you feel that such an article would be [[Wikipedia:Notability|notable]] and beneficial to the encyclopedia, consider creating a [[WP:Red link|red link]] to a possible title. If the meaning is unlikely to merit encyclopedic coverage, you may wish to remove it or replace it with a link to [[Wiktionary]], using the shortcut <nowiki>[[wikt:]]</nowiki>.
# If you fix all the main namespace links to that disambiguation page, please move it to the "[[#Done|Done]]" section.
# Some pages gather links quickly and need to be monitored on an ongoing basis. Alternatively, you may have special knowledge or a special affection for the topic of a particular disambiguation page. For these reasons or any other, consider [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Disambiguation/Adopting disambiguation pages|adopting]] a disambiguation page.
# If all or most of the links refer to one meaning of the article name, it may make more sense to redirect the disambiguation page to that article and perhaps set up a ''disambiguation block''.
# Once you become comfortable with the disambiguation process, you may wish to read [[Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages with links/Guide|this guide]] to help you disambiguate more efficiently.
# {{tlu|Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages with links/Userbox}} can be placed on your user page to show that you fix ambiguous links. You may also use {{tlu|Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages with links/Usertop}}, which will display the [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Disambiguation]] logo in the title bar of your userpage. Using either of these adds you to [[:Category:Wikipedians who help fix disambiguation pages with links]].
# Encourage other editors active in disambiguating by awarding them a {{tls|Disambiguator's Barnstar}}.

==Tools and reports==
Several '''automated tools''' can be used to make disambiguation easier:
* [[Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser|AutoWikiBrowser]] is capable of mass disambiguation in semi-automatic mode. See [[WP:AWB/UM#Disambig|the AWB user manual]] for details.
* [[WP:CLEANER|WPCleaner]] is a [[Java (programming language)|Java]]-based tool designed to aid in various maintenance tasks, including fixing ambiguous links.
* [[tools:~dispenser/view/Dab solver|Dab solver]] is a web based tool which can disambiguate multiple links at once, searches for unlisted red links, and can pick the best redirect for a link.
* [[mw:Manual:Pywikipediabot/solve disambiguation.py|Solve disambiguation.py]] is a python bot script designed to help fix ambiguous links.
* [[Wikipedia:Tools/Navigation popups|Navigation popups]] can be used to fix ambiguous links with a single click if you have added the option "popupFixDabs=true;" to your [[Special:MyPage/skin.js|javascript config file]].
* [[User:Qwertyytrewqqwerty/DisamAssist|DisamAssist]] is an user script that can be used from a disambiguation page to fix ambiguous incoming links.

== DAB Challenge leaderboard ==
{{shortcut|WP:MDC}}
The '''Monthly DAB Challenge''' is a friendly competition to see who can fix the most links from [//tools.wmflabs.org/dplbot/ch/monthly_list.php the monthly list] (and the [//tools.wmflabs.org/dplbot/ch/bonus_list.php bonus list]) and earn a place in the [[Wikipedia:Disambiguation_pages_with_links/Disambiguator_Hall_of_Fame|Disambiguator Hall of Fame]]. The leaderboard shows the top twenty contributors so far this month (with a minimum 10 article-to-disambig fixes), and is updated hourly. For more information, including the full leaderboard, see [//tools.wmflabs.org/dplbot/ch/dab_challenge.php the project page].

The list below shows the disambiguation pages in the English Wikipedia's [[Wikipedia:Main namespace|article namespace]] to which there are the most links. For the purposes of this report, a disambiguation page is considered to be any article using one of the many disambiguation templates. Multiple links from a single article are counted only once. Only links from the article namespace are counted.

The [[/{{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTYEAR}}|current list]] was generated from the [http://tools.wmflabs.org/dplbot/disambig_links.php Wikimedia Labs report] on {{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} 2, {{CURRENTYEAR}}. Previous reports from the toolserver and database dumps are archived in the box to the right.
