Greetings. My name is David Roth, and I'm a meteorologist and weather forecaster. My work-related research revolves around developing a Tropical cyclone rainfall climatology and aiding in the Atlantic hurricane reanalysis. My interest in weather may have been influenced by my mom at an early age (according to dad), but Hurricane David in 1979 passing by our old place in Miami probably helped it along. Weather became my hobby in the summer of 1983, and to some degree I still consider it a hobby, even if it is my means of employment. I find wikipedia to be a good way/method of organizing information and sharing it with others. I like the idea of random quality control from others as well. As of last check, I'm number 2145 on the List of Wikipedians by number of edits.
Five articles needed extensive improvement and modification to go through the GAC and FAC processes. The featured list was created by myself. Extratropical cyclone was improved from Stub class to FA class within one month in October 2006. Tropical cyclone required the input and help of numerous editors and reviewers over a 1 1/2 year period before it became featured early in 2008. Numerical weather prediction took three months to go from Start to FA class in 2010/2011. Of the 121 articles I've contributed toward which have passed GA (but have yet to achieve FA status), 29 were created from scratch. Below is a list of articles that I have either created, or improved, but have yet to reach GA or FA status.
OK, its an award that I've just constructed especially for this, but your work on Extratropical cyclone is, and has been, exceptional. Crimsone 15:57, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

The Working Wikipedian's Barnstar
Over the past few weeks you have done a substantial number of edits. Those edits involve adding necessary details to Southern Hemisphere cyclone seasons, and the addition of satellite pictures from the Mariners' Weather Log. All of those were little incremental edits, little incremental edits that improved the encyclopedia in those areas. In thanks of your efforts in this area, I award you this barnstar. Congratulations and keep up the good work. Miss Madeline | Talk to Madeline 00:37, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
