License tagging for Image:Snake man.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Snake man.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 13:13, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Duplicate images uploaded

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bourke cemetery mosque.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Bourke cemetary mosque.jpg. The copy called Image:Bourke cemetary mosque.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 03:02, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Railway Station Photos

[edit]

Hello - thank you for your photos of various places around New South Wales. I was wondering whether, if you come across a town with a currently functioning railway station in NSW, you might be able to help by taking a photo of the railway station? this page shows all the places wherre we need railway station photos in the country (outside of the CityRail network in Newcastle, Sydney & Wollongong) and this page shows where we need photos inside the CityRail network. Any help (even one photo) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for considering. JRG (talk) 06:33, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - I don't know a better way to contact you on Wikipedia so here goes.. sorry to whoever if this is in the wrong place.

Just wondering if you have any proof that the building you uploaded the picture of in the cemetery in Bourke was actually a mosque? Really curious to know. Salaam —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jookieapc (talkcontribs) 15:49, 11 March 2008

Hi Brian - thanks for the info. I don't suppose you have some photos of the inside of the mosque at Burke or of the sign? Interesting stuff indeed. I'm might have to go on a road trip. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jookieapc (talkcontribs) 09:40, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Brewarrina fish traps 1.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Brewarrina fish traps 1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 13:14, 12 July 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Edit war/BLP

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. .

Also kindly take a read of our WP:BLP policy. Nil Einne (talk) 07:58, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

May 2009

[edit]

This is your only warning.
The next time you violate Wikipedia's biographies of living persons policy by inserting unsourced defamatory content into an article or any other Wikipedia page, as you did to Matthew Johns, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. I have allowed a bit of latitude but you have now crossed the line. Feel free to write what you like about Johns elsewhere but here on Wikipedia you will follow WP:BLP whatever your personal thoughts about the subject. Mattinbgn\talk 08:15, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm afraid I had to revert the material you added to Matthew Johns, for two reasons. The first was that it was very much from a particular point of view, with overly strong and emotive language, which fails to meet Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy. The second was that it was taken directly, word for word, from the source - while you did reference it, exact copies from sources, when not presented as quotes, fall under the general heading of copyright violations. - Bilby (talk) 03:03, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Image source problem with File:Silverton location map in New South Wales.png

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Silverton location map in New South Wales.png.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:18, 21 March 2012 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 14:18, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly unfree File:Silverton location map in New South Wales.png

[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Silverton location map in New South Wales.png, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 23:07, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wow. An editor tries to do the right thing and improve the encyclopedia - even identifying a source for his/her modified image and instead of an explanation and/or some help, he/she gets a myriad of official, vaguely threatening templates referring to obscure rules. Well done Wikipedia!!! -- Mattinbgn (talk) 23:28, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Conollyb. The reason your submission was declined is because it was blank. I've now changed the status to "draft." You should only submit the article again after you have written something. You at least need to write enough to establish the subject of article as being notable. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask on my talk page or at the teahouse. [edit]

Your upload of File:Bourke bowls.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks!
