Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Cherokee Trail

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Original - Cherokee Trail near Fort Collins, Colorado, from a sketch taken 7 June 1859.
Reason
A landscape of one of the trails that settlers used to cross the Rocky Mountains into the Pacific territories of the United States. Sketch made in 1859 shows deep wagon ruts in the unpaved route through a mountain pass; scarcity of traversible passes was an important determinant of trail routes.
