- Reason
- EV. This is the best known portrait of Louis Pasteur, French chemist and microbiologist - depicting him in his laboratory, painted by Finnish painter Albert Edelfelt (1854 – 1905) in 1885.
Louis Pasteur is an absolute giant in the field of medicine, humanity has a lot to thank him. Thank you, Pasteur. Albert Edelfelt is a rather good painter, too. The painting of Louis Pasteur won him the Legion of Honour in 1886 at the exhibition at the Paris Salon.
Louis Pasteur owned this picture and kept it in his dining room. - Articles in which this image appears
