The Beneteau First 285 is a French sailboat, that was designed by Group Finot and first built in 1985. The design is out of production.[1][2][3][4]
Production
[edit]The boat was built by Beneteau in France and the United States. A total of 451 were completed during the design's production run from 1985 to 1993.[1][4][5]
Design
[edit]The First 285 is a small recreational keelboat, built predominantly of glassfibre, with wood trim. It has a fractional sloop rig, an internally-mounted spade-type rudder and a fixed fin keel. It displaces 6,160 lb (2,794 kg) and carries 2,115 lb (959 kg) of ballast.[1][2][4]
The boat has a draft of 5.25 ft (1.60 m) with the standard keel, 3.75 ft (1.14 m) with the optional shoal draft keel and 3.8 ft (1.2 m) with the optional wing keel.[1][4]
The boat has a hull speed of 6.6 kn (12.22 km/h).[2][4]
