Black Frog Music (also known as Black Frog Records, or simply Black Frog) is an independent record label founded on November 16, 1999, by Axl Rose, the lead singer of the hard rock band Guns N' Roses. It was established to manage and release works related to the Chinese Democracy album and other independent artists.[1][2] Currently, Black Frog operates under the Universal Music Group.[3]
Background
[edit]Black Frog was founded by Axl Rose with the goal of providing a platform for his own musical productions and potentially for other artists who share his artistic vision. The name "Black Frog" may have personal or symbolic significance for Rose, though no detailed information about the name's choice is publicly available.[4]
Details about Black Frog Records' releases and activities are limited, and the label does not have a widely publicized catalog outside of circles close to Axl Rose and his direct collaborators.[5] Though not as prominent as his career as the frontman of Guns N' Roses, Black Frog Records reflects Axl Rose's interest in exploring new creative opportunities and offering an independent platform for musical projects.[6][7]
