The people in this list have proclaimed themselves Pope or "reigned" during the 21st century. These proclamations were made either with no Conclave at all or with a very small Conclave typically consisting of themselves and a small number of their personal associates. Because these men are not conventionally recognized as being Popes, they are listed by their civil names rather than by their "regnal" names, except when their civil name is not known.
