Culiseta novaezealandiae is a species of mosquito.[2] It is endemic to New Zealand.[3] It is found in Southland[4] and Otago.[1] This species was first described by J. S. Pillai in 1966 using specimens collected at Tahakopa.[1] The habitat of this species in its larval stage is coastal broadleaf swamp.[4] It has been hypothesised that the hosts of C. novaezealandiae are birds.[4] This mosquito species is regarded as being unlikely to be an arbovirus vector.[5]
