The 2024 Bucharest mayoral election will be held on 9 June 2024 to elect the next mayor of Bucharest. It will take place simultaneously with local elections throughout Romania, including those for the General Council of Bucharest. The election will use the first-past-the-post voting system. The winner of the election will serve for a term of four years.
Nicușor Dan, the incumbent mayor, is running for a second term as an independent, although with support from the ADU alliance and REPER. The incumbent mayor of Sector 5, Cristian Popescu Piedone, is running as the PUSL candidate. Gabriela Firea, the former mayor that was in office from 2016 to 2020, is also running for a second non-consecutive term as the PSD candidate. PNL is also surfing a candidate this time round, even though they supported Dan in 2020, through Sebastian Burduja, the current Energy Minister under the Ciolacu government.
