Amar Nayak (born 15 May 1973) is an Indian politician and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He serves as the Member of Odisha Legislative Assembly for Barchana, Odisha. Known for his commitment to rural development and educational advancement, Nayak has undertaken several initiatives in his constituency.

Early life and education

Amar Nayak was born on 15 May 1973. He completed a Master of Finance and Control (MFC) and a Master in Tourism Administration from Utkal University. He is married to Smt. Namita Dash, and the couple has one son and one daughter.[1]

Political career

Nayak’s political journey began as the General Secretary of the Students' Union at Kendrapada College. In 2014, he contested independently in the Odisha Assembly elections, securing around 27,000 votes. His dedication to Barachana's development later earned him significant support, leading to his election as MLA in 2024, where he defeated Varsha Priyadarshini by a margin of 6,310 votes.[2]

As an MLA, Nayak has advocated for comprehensive development projects in Barachana. His efforts have focused on: - The completion and operational launch of the *Utkal University Rural Campus* in Barachana. - Achieving 100% electrification in the constituency. - Providing permanent housing for the underprivileged through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). - Securing approximately ₹20 crore for the development of religious sites like Lord Mahavinayak and Chhatia Bhat.[3]

Nayak has been recognized by the Odisha government for his contributions and appointed as a member of the Standing Committee for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department. He is also the President of the MARKFED Employees Union, reflecting his role in supporting the cooperative sector.

Personal life

Nayak resides in Bhubaneswar at OUAT Colony, Khandagiri. His permanent residence is in Salapada, Odisha.[4]
