"Archie Gets the Business" is an episode of the American television sitcom All in the Family. The episode would be the premise for the spin-off series, Archie Bunker's Place, which aired roughly 2 years later on September 23, 1979. It originally aired as one episode, but was broken into two parts for syndication. This episode itself is the first and second episode of the eight season, originally aired on October 2, 1977 on CBS.
Production
[edit]This episode would be the last one to feature Tom Kelsey, the owner of Kelsey's bar, which Archie would buy. In previous appearances, he was primarily portrayed by Bob Hastings, and four times by Brendan Dillon, interestingly though, in this appearance, he is portrayed by Frank Maxwell.
Plot
[edit]After being revealed to be hospitalized and in declining health, Kelsey decides to sell his bar. He is giving it to the first person to buy it from him for $40,000. In order to get it, Archie has to forge Edith's name in order to get a loan from the bank, at risk of loosing his house if anything happens to the bar.
