Carlton Irving Phelps Jr. (born January 3, 1981[citation needed]) is an American banker and politician who ran for election to the Massachusetts House of Representatives to represent the 7th Middlesex District.  Phelps seeking the Democratic nomination was unsuccessful in the Democratic primary on September 3rd, 2024. Prior to running for State Representative, he worked as a Bank Auditor for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston from 2017 to 2021. Phelps was appointed as a trustee of the Ashland Affordable Housing Trust in 2024.

Early Life and Career

Carlton Phelps is an Ashland, Massachusetts resident who has lived in Metro West since 2017.  He was raised in Alexandria, Virginia by his late father, Dr. Carlton I. Phelps and his mother Toni, a public-school teacher for 30 years.

In 2017 Carlton moved to MetroWest region to work as a Residential Real Estate Analyst for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston.

Carlton earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management at Marymount University in Northern Virginia and was first team all Capital Athletic Conference on the Marymount basketball team.

Carlton Phelps resides in Ashland, Massachusetts. He is currently on the Ashland Democratic Town Committee.
