Christos Megarchiotis (born July 14, 1981, in Athens, Greece) is a filmmaker, producer, writer,multimedia artist and owner of Kerketion[1] , an audiovisual production business based in Greece. He is known for his diverse roles in film and television, including directing, producing, cinematography, editing and visual effects. His work spans across various genres, from narrative fiction to documentary.

Early Life and Education

Christos Megarchiotis was born in Athens and attended the 6th Neo Iraklio Primary School. After completing primary school, his family relocated to Trikala, where he completed three years of high school and three years of lyceum. He then pursued studies in electrical and electronic engineering at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in the United Kingdom.

Megarchiotis enrolled at Queen Margaret University. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication and Media Arts (Major in Film and Television Directing) on 2009.

Career

At the age of 16, he made his first movie. From 2004 he started working professionally as a director, producer, cinematographer, video editor, motion graphics designer on feature films, commercials, corporate videos and short films. He directed and produced The Light Before Dawn (2009)[2]

, a short period film about World War II that was screened at Greek and European festivals. His next short film The Dark Side of the Mirror (2015)[3] , was screened at the Horrorant Film Festival in Athens on 2016.

In addition to his filmmaking, Megarchiotis composed the music for the short film "The Cup"[4] by Yiannis Bougioukas. Τhe film won an award at the International Drama Film Festival and was distributed by ODEON SA and opened in more than 50 movie theaters in Greece.

Among his most notable contributions is his involvement as a unit production manager in the three Emmy Awards winning docuseries "Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones"[5] on Netflix, a series that explores the lifestyles of communities known for longevity co-produced by Dan Buettner.

Christos Megarchiotis married to Sri Widayati, a professional chef from Indonesia, on 2018. Their wedding was held at the Greek Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia. The couple resides in Greece with their daughter, Adela Widya Valentina.
