Connected Kerb is a UK-based provider specializing in technology-driven electric vehicle charging solutions and smart city infrastructure. The company designs, manufactures, and offers cloud-based management software for EV charging points. Established in 2017, its headquarters are located in the UK.
Since its inception in 2017, Connected Kerb has collaborated with local authorities, residential developers, fleet operators, and commercial property owners to install durable EV charging stations. These stations are available on residential roads, in business parks, at workplaces, and in parking areas.
Connected Kerb has recently unveiled plans to set up 190,000 charging stations by 2030, in anticipation of the ban on new petrol and diesel vehicle sales.[1]. This plan includes the installation of 7,000 charging points in West Sussex over the coming ten years[2]. As of April 2024, Connected Kerb has secured contracts for over 40,000 charging points, predominantly in the UK.
History
[edit]Founded in 2017 by Stephen Richardson, Nick Dobie, Peter Howe, Paul Ayres, and Richard Clements, Connected Kerb was inspired by the concept of "Connecting the Kerb" with power and data to facilitate all e-mobility solutions.
In 2018 ex international Rugby League player Martin Offiah was appointed Brand Ambassador.
The company received the Mayor of London Civic Innovation Challenge Award in the electric vehicle category in 2018[3].
Following this, in 2019, Connected Kerb was honoured with the Edie Sustainability Leaders Award for technological innovation[4] and the SEAL Sustainability Award for environmental initiatives[5].
Chris Pateman Jones was appointed as Head of Strategy in 2019.
In the same year, Connected Kerb won the CW Technology Innovation Awards for the Most Innovative Start-Up[6]. and an EVIES Award for Best On-Street Charging and Best New Product or Service[7].
2021 saw the launch of the UK's first public smart charging trial with the Agile Streets project[8].
By 2022, Connected Kerb was chosen by the New York City Department of Transportation and NewLab to implement on-street charging for a major electric vehicle pilot project in New York City[9].
In 2023, the founders launched Connected Kerb Inc to expand into the North American market.
