is an American actor, advocate, and political figure. He is known for his roles on television shows such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and The Sopranos. Aquino is also the founder and leader of the Advocates for Disabled Americans, Veterans, Police, Firemen & Families Organization (ADA), which focuses on disability rights, veterans’ issues, and first responder advocacy. In November 2023,[1] Aquino announced his candidacy for the 2025 New York City mayoral election, running as a Republican.
Early life and career
[edit]Aquino was born and raised in New York City. His career began in entertainment, where he gained recognition for his roles as a disabled police officer on Law & Order[2] and a mobster on The Sopranos.[3]
Aside from acting, Aquino has been a long-time advocate for disabled veterans and first responders. His work with the Advocates for Disabled Americans (ADA) has brought attention to the needs of disabled individuals, particularly veterans, and his organization provides support through legal advocacy and public awareness campaigns.[4]
Political career
[edit]In October 2024, Aquino officially announced his candidacy for Mayor of New York City in the 2025 election. Running on a Republican platform, Aquino's campaign centers on advocacy for veterans, disabled individuals, and economic recovery for the city post-pandemic. He also plans to improve public safety and affordable housing.[5]
Aquino's campaign is supported financially by his cousin, John Ferolito, co-founder of Arizona Beverage Company.[6] This backing has allowed him to begin outreach efforts and campaign events throughout the city, targeting underserved communities and engaging in public forums.
Personal life
[edit]Aquino has personal experience with disability, which has driven his passion for advocacy. His organization, ADA, serves as a platform for voicing the concerns of disabled people, particularly in New York City, where he has been deeply involved in community work for many years.[4]
