One of PSJ UK's notable initiatives is the "Write to Your MP" campaign, which motivates UK residents to communicate with local and elected representatives to advocate for change.[2].
PSJ UK maintains direct liaison with politicians, civil servants, and diplomats in the UK Government, including Members of the UK Parliament. Key individuals involved in these efforts include Fiona Bruce (politician), who served as the UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's Special Envoy for Freedom of Religion or Belief[3], and Catriona Laing, who served as the British High Commissioner to Nigeria from 2018 to 2023. The organization also co-hosted an event at King's College London titled "Tinubu's Test: Nigeria One Year On from the Election."[5]. Relationship & Acknowledgement by the UK Parliament[edit]
PSJ UK submitted Written Evidence "IRN0038".[7] which was featured in the Seventh Report of Session 2021-2022 by the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee titled "Lagos Calling: Nigeria and the Integrated Review" (Ordered by the House of Commons to be printed on 25 April 2022).[8]
On 19 March 2024, during a Westminster Briefing & Report Launch, PSJ UK, in collaboration with the I.A Foundation, presented a report titled "Insecurity and Education in Nigeria: The Context and Challenges" at the UK Parliament[9]. This report was received by Fiona Bruce (politician), Member of Parliament and Special Envoy to the UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak[10][11].
Relationship with the Nigerian Government[edit]
PSJ UK maintains a cordial relationship with Nigerian leaders, diplomats, and politicians, aligning with its vision to be a trusted ally of every community in Nigeria [12].
In support of this relationship, on 2 May 2024, PSJ UK, together with the Gideon & Funmi Para-Mallam Peace Foundation and the Overseas Fellowship of Nigerian Christians (OFNC) UK, hosted an event with His Excellency Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, the Governor of Plateau State, Nigeria, in London, UK. The event focused on Plateau State's agricultural potential, advocacy for peace,security, and development, and included an interactive session with the Nigerian Diaspora and friends of Nigeria in the UK[13].
