Ivan Soltesz received his Ph.D. in Comparative Physiology from Eötvös University in Budapest, and conducted postdoctoral work at several leading institutions, including Oxford and Stanford. He founded his lab at UC Irvine in 1995, later becoming a full professor and chair of Anatomy & Neurobiology before moving back to Stanford in 2015 as the James R. Doty Professor of Neurosurgery and Neurosciences. His research focuses on neuronal microcircuits, network oscillations, and epilepsy, using advanced techniques like optogenetics and computational modeling. Soltesz has mentored numerous students and postdocs, many of whom have gone on to prestigious positions.
