Jake Medwell (born 1989) is an American businessperson and venture capitalist.[1][2] He co-founded and is a partner at 8VC, a Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm that invests in transformative technology companies.[3][4][5]
Early life and education
[edit]Jake Medwell was born in 1989.[6][7] He received his early education from Bellevue High School.[8] Later, he attended Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in entrepreneurship.[9]
Career
[edit]In 2007, Medwell co-founded The Kairos Society and sits on its board to this day.[10][11] In 2009 while studing at USC, he also co-founded Solé Bicycle Co.[2][12]
In 2013, Medwell co-founded Humin, a contact management company, which was later acquired by Tinder.[13][14] In 2014, he co-founded Eight Partners LLC.[9] A year later, he co-founded 8VC, a venture capitalist firm.[15][16]
In 2018, Medwell co-founded Baton, a Fortune 500 logistics company which was later acquired by Ryder.[17][18][19] Two years later, in 2020, amid the coronavirus crisis, Medwell co-founded Operation Masks.[20] This initiative was launched to address the shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) during the COVID-19 pandemic.[21][22]
Medwell is also a board member of a number of companies under 8VC's portfolio.[23][24] Jake was ranked number one in Forbes 30 under 30 in 2017.[7][25]
