Jewish Educational Media also known by its acronym JEM is a nonprofit organization [1] Founded in 1980. dedicated to the production and distribution of educational and inspirational multimedia [2] resources from a Chabad-Lubavitch perspective. Based in Brooklyn New York.

Jem focuses on preserving and sharing the teachings of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, as well as promoting Jewish education and Jewish outreach. The organization is known for its extensive collection of video and audio recordings, as well as publications that enhance the understanding of Hassidic philosophy and practice.[3]

History

In the summer of 1980, JEM launched its first live broadcast of the Rebbe's Farbrengen on television, his initiative was realized with the Rebbe's blessing, aiming to leverage contemporary broadcasting technology to share his teachings with a wider audience.[4]

After the passing of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, on June 12, 1994 (3 Tamuz), JEM initiated significant efforts to preserve and share his teachings and legacy. Two years later in 1996 JEM released The Living Torah Videos of The Rebbes's Public Speeahes and people sharing their encounters with The Rebbe[5]

In 2004, JEM launched the Living Archive Restoration and Preservation Project to protect its invaluable archival collections and the idea of a Jewish Leader, recognizing the urgency to conserve these materials due to the risk of deterioration over time. [6]

JEM has produced several books that focus on the life, teachings, and impact of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Schneerson, and Chabad-Lubavitch history. Some of their notable works include:

  • Our Fellow Countryman: a deeply researched book co-written by historians from the State Archives of the Nikolayev Region, Drs. Larysa Levechenko and Vladimir Shchukin [7]
  • My Story Volumes 1 & 2: My Story features forty-one personal accounts from individuals whose lives were transformed by their encounters with the Rebbe.
  • Early Years: The Formative Years of the Rebbe is a meticulously researched book that unveils hundreds of newly discovered documents and details about the early life of The Rebbe.
  • Seeds of Wisdom Volumes 1 & 2: A collection of short stories and encounters between the Lubavitcher Rebbe and people who sought his counsel on a wide array of life`s questions and challenges.
  • Tishrei in Lubavitch: A photo album with over 200 curated images, accompanied by captions and quotes, of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, and Simchat Torah with the Rebbe.
  • The Rebbe, An Appreciation: An exploration The Rebbe, offering insights into his perspectives on Jewish unity, the concept of Moshiach, and other significant issues facing the Jewish community today.

Distribution

JEM Multimedia can be accessed through Jem.tv, where most of the content is available to JEM members($5-$20 Monthly/ $60-$240 Anualy [8]. Additionally, JEM books are widely available in many Chabad Judaica stores and bookstores especaily in Brooklyn New York. [citation needed]
