Kardam (Hindi कर्दम) is a clan of Jatavs found in Northern India. The word Kardam is derived from the Sanskrit word 'Kadamba', which is an holy tree in Hinduism. As per the saying, Kardams are not allowed to cut or hurt the Kadamba tree in any form. The twig of Kadamba tree is considered a 'Dev' amongst the Kardams.
