Kinga Wyrzykowska, born in 1977 in Warsaw, Poland is a French-Polish writer and translator, author of novels and children's books.

Biography[edit]

Kinga Wyrzykowska is born in Warsaw and immigrates to France with her parents in the early 1980s due to political instability during the state of martial law in Poland.[1] Settling in the Paris region, she quickly learns French and integrates into the French educational system. She pursues studies in contemporary literature at the École Normale Supérieure, where she earns a degree. She then teaches at the University of Saint-Étienne while working on a thesis, which she eventually abandons to dedicate herself to theater and audiovisual work.[2] She writes screenplays for two documentary films and translates several plays.[3]

In 2015, she publishes her first children's novel, Memor, le monde d’après, followed by De nos propres ailes in 2017. These works establish her name in the field of children's literature. In 2022, she publishes Patte blanche, her first novel aimed at an adult audience, which receives critical acclaim and wins the Françoise Sagan Prize in 2023.[2][4][1]

Alongside her writing career, Kinga Wyrzykowska is one of the founders of the literary agency Trames, which provides services to international publishers and supports literary creation.[5] Kinga Wyrzykowska is also active in social and political life. She is a member of the Labour Union (Unia Pracy), a left-wing political organization in Poland.[6]
