Lorenzo Carboni (born 27 February 2006) is an Italian professional tennis player.
Early life
[edit]He is from Alghero on the island of Sardinia. His father Sebastiano was an amateur footballer. He started playing tennis when he was three years-old. In 2018, he moved to train at the Piatti Tennis Center in Bordighera.[1][2] In 2021, he became Italian U16 champion.[3] In 2022, alongside Lorenzo Angelini and Federico Cinà he reached the final of the European under-16 team championship.[1]
Junior career
[edit]He was a semi finalist of the Boy's singles at the 2024 French Open, defeating French local Mae Malige and Australian Open junior winner Rei Sakamoto.[4][5] In the semi final he lost narrowly 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 7-6 (10-4) to Tomasz Berkieta.[6]
Professional career
[edit]He played his first ITF tournament in March 2023 in Tunisia and came through qualifying to reach the semi-final. In July 2023 in Biella he played his first ITF final. Later that year, he won his debut match on the Challenger Tour, in Como.[2]
