Oreon Lime is the first ever release of the Oreon Operating System,[1] Bringing a privacy and security focused Linux distribution based on Fedora. It released to the public on January 1st, 2024 as initially planned. Oreon Lime includes two editions, which are Oreon Lime Desktop Standard and Oreon Desktop Business+ which were both offered free after the release on January 1st. The operating system includes two releases, which are R1 and R1.1, with the letter 'R' standing for release.

Oreon Lime started it's first development in October 2022 by it's founder Brandon Lester. The operating system was originally planned to be named Cores Lite, but was renamed to Oreon Lime in early 2023. Lime is named after the green wallpaper called "Limefalls" which was also the codename before the release. The project is originated in Folsom California, United States.

Oreon Lime introduces minor features such as UEFI support, and gnome-extensions out of the box to make Oreon users enjoy the same layout as Windows
Installation[edit]
Oreon Lime uses the Fedora Rawhide Anaconda Installer, which brings a newer interface unlike the one in Fedora 39. The installation is really easy to work through, as it uses the new UI.
Lifecycle[edit]
Oreon Lime versions R1 and R1.1 are supported until March 2025, as a new version is on it's way. However, there is a service called Extended Security Program (ESP) offered by the Oreon Project, extending the support for an extra four months available for the Business+ edition.
