Career[edit]
He began his career in the television industry by assisitng director T.N. Seetharam,[1] who significantly influenced his understanding of screen scripting.[2] Before he started directing, Samarth worked as a writer for various television shows, including Kannadada Kotyadhipati, hosted by movie star Puneeth Rajkumar. During his time on the game show, Samarth developed a rapport with Rajkumar, which later led to Rajkumar producing Law (2020) under PRK Productions.[2]
Law (2020)[edit]
In 2020, Samarth directed the Kannada legal drama film Law, which was released in Amazon Prime Video on July 17, 2020.[1][2] It is notable for being the first Kannada film to have a direct digital release and was produced by Puneeth Rajkumar's PRK Productions.[1] The decision to release Law on an OTT platform came as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns.[1] Samarth credits his inspiration for strong female characters to the women in his life, particularly his mother and other family members.[1][3]
