- Comment: minimal changes, new sourcing still does not indicateCan't find mention of him on tv guide, his appearance for a single season of a reality tv show is not notable, and the random law.com article written by the subject of the article itself cannot be used to prove notability. Bluethricecreamman (talk) 00:14, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: Notability means it has to be by works produced by other folk that aren't interviews. his own writings can't count, meaning sources 1-6 aren't useful. See also WP:INDEPENDENTBusiness Insider seems promising, I can't find mention of him in the vogue article, and the other articles seem to be passing references to him. Ravieshwar Singh, nicknamed Ravi Guru Singh, is an Indian-American attorney, digital fashion designer, actor, and writer.
Digital fashion and AI
[edit]In April 2023, Singh was covered in the Business of Fashion, Elle and Vogue for his activism on how generative artificial intelligence could perpetuate fashion's biases.[1][2][3] He identified that AI could improve fashion's standards through enabling more diversity in casting across race and body type. His activism on how AI could repeat harmful biases became part of the Business of Fashion's first case study and playbook for generative AI in fashion, which was made available to thousands of fashion professionals across the United States.[4]
He began his digital fashion work in 2021, when he co-created and sold the first-ever Indian-inspired digital fashion which was featured and covered by The Times of India and the Hindu.[5][6][7]
Legal career
[edit]Singh was one of the authors of the handbook "Qualified Financial Contracts and Netting Under U.S. Insolvency Laws" published by the law firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, which covers safe harbors under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, the Federal Deposit Insurance Act and other major U.S. insolvency regimes.[8][9] He has also contributed to the "Guide to Bank Underwriting, Dealing and Brokerage Activities" on the chapter "Brokerage and Related Activities" which covers the capital markets activities of U.S. and foreign banks and bank holding companies in the U.S.[10][11]
Singh was one of the first lawyers in New York to publish legal analysis on the need for the state to consider legislation recognizing the status of a decentralized autonomous organization ("DAOs").[12]
His views were subsequently cited in further analysis on whether New York legislation on DAOs can enable autonomous organizations to truly remain anonymous.[13] His legal analysis on the Capital One and Discover merger has been published in the April edition of American Banker[14], and in Industry Dive.[15]
He has advocated for ending legacy preferences at Vanderbilt University.[16]
Selected works
[edit]Singh led the acting in the full-length feature documentary Terrible Children directed by Shanti Thakur which premiered at the Cleveland International Film Festival[17]. His performance as the lead character resulted in audiences feeling "emotionally attached to him" and seen as the "true star" of the documentary according to The Daily Texan.[18]
He participated as a guest voice performer for iHeartRadio "Partition Podcast Series", reading from Midnight's Furies: The Deadly Legacy of India's Partition by Nisid Hajari.[19][20]
He wrote and produced the short film "Doing the Robot" as covered by TV Guide.[21]
He led the acting and wrote the screenplay for the English-language short film "The Invite" which was translated to Korean and premiered at the International Film Festival of South Asia -- Seoul in December 2023.[22]
He also was on season one of Netflix's Indian Matchmaking which he wrote about for the Huffington Post.[23]
