- Comment: Unfortunately, most sources cited hardly indicate any notability, which is especially true for the sources cited in the lead section. Also, I would suggest checking the citations as there are obvious referencing errors, and various references to totally unsuitable sources. Best, --Johannes (Talk) (Contribs) (Articles) 16:09, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: The references need to provide extensive coverage specifically about Nick Ferrari via independent, reliable sources. I was hopeful when I saw the LA Weekly headline but the article was "written in partnership with De Castellane Creative." (I did a quick search but couldn't find anything that would establish his notability.) JSFarman (talk) 06:06, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
Rick Ferrari is an agency founder and Broadway producer.[1]
Ferrari began his career in New York City at Zoli Models in 1981, continuing to work as a model agent through the mid-90s. He later worked as a talent manager with Sandy Gallin at Gallin Morey Associates where he managed Dolly Parton.[2], and at Photogenics in 2008 representing Robert Downey Jr. and Paul Walker for branding endorsements. [3]
At talent agency Don Buchwald & Associates, Ferrari headed the West Coast commercial/branding division for the company [4] as it hit its four decade mark in the industry and rebranded to Buchwald for the milestone.[5]
Ferrari's work in branding endorsements gave way to the growth of the on-camera roster, ultimately leading to him opening his own firm, Ferrari Talent[6] where he represents such actors as Cameron Cowperthwaite[7] and Margo Parker.[8]
Ferrari has participated in workshops and podcasts[9][10], including being a guest speaker at The Actor's Lab where he joined Michael Patrick King, Mimi Leder, and Jim Belushi in ongoing Actor's Lab coursework.[11]
For the January 2000 issue of Genre (magazine), Ferrari was photographed by Herb Ritts with David Geffen who was featured in a cover story celebrating 100 men of the new millennium[12] and who Ferrari credits as a lifelong friend and mentor.[13]
In 2017, Ferrari appeared as himself in the documentary The Fabulous Allan Carr.[14] Also in 2017, Ferarri was included in the book, Inside Studio 54, in which Mark Fleischman noted that Ferrari frequented Studio 54 as a companion to Bill Aucoin, manager of KISS, and was strong enough to survive the hard-partying days of the Studio 54 era, creating a successful Hollywood career as both manager and agent.[15]
During the industry-wide writers and actors strike of 2023, Ferrari Talent focused on the commercial market where production did not stop.[16]
Producing work
[edit]In 2012, the Hollywood Reporter announced the Go-Go's musical Head Over Heels (musical) with Rick Ferrari, Donovan Leitch and Gwyneth Paltrow as producers.[17]
Using the music of the 1980s all-girl supergroup, the musical had its world premiere at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon in 2015 and a pre-Broadway tryout at San Francisco’s Curran Theatre in the spring of 2018.[18]
The Head Over Heels Broadway production was led by Tony Award-winning director Michael Mayer (director) with musical supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Pulitzer Prize and Tony winner Tom Kitt (musician) and original book by Tony winner Jeff Whitty.[19]
The musical opened at the Hudson Theatre on July 26, 2018 and played 188 regular performances and 37 previews by the time it played its final performance Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019.[20]
It was nominated for several awards including Outstanding Production of a Broadway or Off-Broadway Musical by Drama League Awards, winning a Theatre World Award for Bonnie Milligan's debut performance.[21]
That same year, Ferrari and the producing team joined Sony Masterworks Broadway to announce the release of the original Broadway cast recording.[22]
In 2019, Ferrari joined director Brian Corso to produce the documentary "Public Figure" which examined Rose McGowan and others who influence public opinion on the internet.[23] Gravitas Ventures picked up worldwide rights and the film had its world premiere at the Manchester International Film Festival.[24]
