Route One/USA is a 1989 movie directed by Robert Kramer. It's a documentary in which fiction sublty seeps in.
Synopsis
[edit]Robert Kramer comes back to the United States after a few years of absence, in order to drive down U.S. Route 1 along the East Coast and shot his trip.
Robert Kramer reunites with Doc, played by Paul McIsaac, the fictional character who played in his previous film Doc's Kingdom (1987). They decided to travel the 3,107 miles (5,000 km) of asphalt from north to south, to meet the inhabitants, retracing the history of the country on this route. Robert Kramer thus integrates a fictional character into a documentary film.
