So beautiful, so elegant. Just looking like a wow!(Internet meme) is a phrase which went viral through an Instagram video. It soon became an internet meme that originated from a series of videos made by the West-Delhi-based mother-daughter duo to sell their colourful lady apparel on Instagram. It has become an important phrase in popular culture in India. According to Google, this meme ranked second in the top searches in India in the year 2023.[1]
Origin
[edit]This whole phrase is part of a video which went viral in September-October month of 2023. Jasmeen Kaur, a boutique owner who sells salwar suits on Instagram and using this phrase in her presentation. In the video, Kaur describes the outfits as "just looking like a wow" multiple times. Her contagious enthusiasm and passion cause the video to go viral very fast. Her Instagram account is full of those videos where this term has been repeated in a presenting and enthusiastic way.[2][3][4] This phrase is used to praise something as extraordinary.
Reception
[edit]People on the internet use this phrase to describe everything, from their favourite outfits to their everyday activities. [3] Even popular personalities like leader, cricketer, actor and musician jumped into it. Both actor Deepika Padukone and politician Trinamool MP Nusrat Jahan lip-synced to the song. Musician Yashraj Mukhate, whose ‘Rasode Main Kaun Tha’ remix went utterly viral a while ago, tried to do the same with this earworm and actor Sanya Malhotra made a reel dancing to it. [5]
In a tweet, Pakistani cricketer Iftikhar Ahmed used this phrase to appreciate his teammate Fakhar Zaman innings against the New Zealand in an ODI World Cup match in November 2023.[6]
Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla has also used this phrase in his note on the Indian economy in January 2024.[7]
