The Brink Of is a 2024 American musical film directed and written by Patrick Meaney that follows an indie pop duo whose songs leave fans wondering if they are more than just bandmates. It stars Nicolette Norgaard and Tim Hoffmann, who also wrote and performed seven original songs in the film.[1] The film was released on April 16, 2024 by 4 Digital Media.[2]
Plot
[edit]Lena and James are rising artists whose deeply romantic songs are on stage chemistry don't reflect anything more than a platonic off stage relationship, or so they claim. As they work on their first album, they reflect on the journey that led them to the brink of mainstream success, and must decide on their personal and professional future.

Production
[edit]The film was conceived by Patrick Meaney and Nicolette Norgaard, who developed the initial idea that Meaney turned into a script. Norgaard approached Hoffmann, who she had gone to college with, to co-star and write the songs with her.[1]
The film was shot around Los Angeles, and includes a seven minute long single take during the party scene that won critical acclaim.[3]
After production, the publishing rights to the songs were acquired by AMR Songs.[4]
Release
[edit]The film premiered at the Golden State Film Festival, where it won the Best Narrative - Audience Award.[5] It subsequently won the Best Narrative Feature - Audience Award at the Vero Beach Film Festival.[6]
The film was acquired for distribution by 4 Digital. It was released April 16, 2024 on VOD.[2]
The film received critical praise, including a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.[7]
