The Durian Pact is a thriller novel by British writer Christopher Howarth, published in September 2024.

Etymology[edit]

The title refers to a nickname for the 1971 Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA), between Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and the UK.

Plot[edit]

The book centers on a junior British politician Richard Reynolds caught up in a political intreague in Westminster politics that has the potential to drag in the UK's allies in South East Asia.

About the Author[edit]

Christopher Howarth was the head of the European Research Group during the Parliamentary passage of Brexit. He has worked at the Home Office as a Special Adviser and has been a member of the TA.[1]
