The Ergodic Investor and Entrepreneur is a 2023 book by Graham Boyd, who is a former physicist and former manager with Proctor and Gamble, and Jack Reardon, who is an economist. The book focuses on the application to investing of ergodicity economics. The book covers the consequences of modern portfolio theory not distinguishing between ergodic and non-ergodic capital growth dynamics, how to correct for the downward bias of non-ergodic capital growth vs. modern portfolio theory's assumptions, and the relevance of this for addressing the polycrisis by transforming to a regenerative economy, for impact investing and related approaches.
The book covers subjects relating to economics, business, complexity theory, as well as the consequences for life of much in life having non-ergodic dynamics, and uses fiction and anecdotes from the authors' lives to illustrate the practical implications of using the lens of ergodicity.
