Wrapper Offline
[edit]- Wrapper Offline is the revival of Vyond's Legacy Maker that expired in 2019 due to Adobe Flash Player shutting down. It recreates the old Goanimate website pre 2019. It features the old themes such as the famous Comedy world, Lil' Peeps, Anime, Anime Ninja, Cartoon Classics and much more restored themes.
Getting the Software
[edit]People that have Microsoft, Linus and Mac Computers can download the software by GitHub. People can get Wrapper Offline with this accessible link.
Once in the site, the person must go to "Releases" and press on the latest. Once pressed, it displays a changelog and what's changed and fixed. On the bottom you will see the assets for Wrapper Offline. If Windows, the person must press the "wrapper-offline-win32-x64.zip". It takes a few moments for it to load. It will come out as a zip file. For Wrapper Offline to work completely, the person must extract the zip file into an extracted folder (which will last approximately last 30 minutes) and press a file that says Wrapper Offline which might work.
Release History
[edit]Following the shutdown of GoAnimate Wrapper project in early 2020, Wrapper: Offline was created by a user named Benson. It comprised of the original GoAnimate Wrapper, the asset store, files needed to get it working, and a start script. Version 1.0.0 was released on April 18, 2020.
On July 5th, 2020, version 1.2.0 was released. It introduced the IVONA voices, Mega Comedy World 2.0 and an importing workaround, which used a batch script to add files to a custom theme. It also fixed waveforms, which in previous versions was simply a dummy. This was presumably due to the Video Maker freezing while it generated.
Benson left the entire community on July 17th, 2020, leaving Wrapper: Offline on hold with no owner. During this time the text-to-speech voices slowly broke as sites updated their APIs. This period of no development lasted until December 19, 2020, when Keegan Salisbury formed a development team and started an unofficial continuation of W:O. Benson was quickly notified of this and he returned to give ownership to Keegan and make an announcement explaining his reasoning for abandoning the project. Shortly after he did this, the W:O Discord server started undergoing massive changes. It was renamed to Wrapper Hub and was turned into a central server for Wrapper support.
Keegan's ownership and work on Wrapper: Offline has been heavily criticized for being unstable and untested. On March 5th, 2021, version 1.2.3 was released mainly as a fix for TTS voices. A month later, Keegan made the controversial decision to release 1.3.0 prematurely. His ownership lasted half a year, before he finally caved in and transferred W:O to GoTest334.
Under GoTest's ownership, Wrapper Hub became Wrapper: Offline again, and 1.3.0 was put back into beta, or retracted. In March 2022, development of 1.3.0 was reset as the original was deemed unsalvageable. The new version of 1.3.0 had importing, starters, working TTS voices, and other new features that were missing from previous versions. It was released on July 4, 2022.
Shortly after 1.3.0 was released, development of version 2.0.0 commenced. This version restructured Wrapper: Offline as an Electron project. It introduced cross-platform support, watermarks, more settings that take advantage of the Video Maker's flashvars, and reintroduced It'sJay's Video Maker mods from pre-reset 1.3.0. It was released on January 21, 2023.
Development of version 2.1.0 began on December 7th, 2022. As of November 5th, 2023, it has not been completed yet[1]
Grounding videos
[edit]Origination
[edit]Nobody knows where the first grounding video was made. But some Goanimate users have been making grounding videos out of characters since 2009 and gained popularity in 2012. The video would start as a character misbehaving or planning to misbehave and then executing the plan. Shortly after someone each as the characters parents or a bystander would catch them in the act. If caught by a bystander, they would call the parents of that troublemaking character. The parents would be angry and yell at the character, then scolding it and saying that they are grounded for a crazy amount of time and send them to their rooms as the character cries. Most of the time for a comedic effect they would say the word "grounded" several times. Sometimes the latter would get punished before being sent to their room. Here's an example of a parent grounding a character. "Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. [random character] how dare you [bad thing]. That's it. You are grounded grounded grounded grounded grounded for [a crazy amount of time]. Go to your room now."
Grounded videos got famous due to computer voices failing to sound onomatopoetic if a character is screaming, laughing or crying, as it tries to make that sound.
Preschool Shows
[edit]Caillou
[edit]The First "Caillou gets Grounded"
[edit]In 2013, a Goanimator named Sara Braeutigam, known as African Vulture started her infamous "Caillou gets grounded" series made a video where Caillou's parents are about to have another baby. Caillou and his family goes to the hospital and the baby, Rosie was born. The parents are happy, but Caillou is disgusted that the baby was a girl instead of a boy, and calls the baby stupid, causing the newborn to wail loudly. Boris and Doris get angry at their son and scolds him for insulting Rosie, and calls him ungrateful. Boris grounds him for 2 months and the family heads home. Doris sends a tearful Caillou to his room. Boris and Doris calm Rosie down. The video ends with Rosie drinking from a bottle.
The legacy
[edit]African Vulture still makes the grounded series. The Caillou gets grounded series inspired many other users such as NathanSaturnBoi, BrentAnimate, Brendan Barney, ThatBluePandaGuy,Temonic Bounty and many other users to create the series. Some of them would go far as Caillou getting several punishments (spanking, smashing devices, taking toy away) then being sent to bed such as Everything PC Gaming, and Samster5677.
Dora
[edit]The second most recognized grounded series out of a preschool show is "Dora getting grounded". This series was created by African Vulture but popularized by Brendan Barney The series also inspired many users suchas VittriotheVyonder, TboneAnimate, Roku Kun the Vyonder to make these series as well.
Little Bill
[edit]It's not known who started the "Little Bill gets grounded" series. This series also inspired many users such as FoxNickandReallyRule, African Vulture, VittriotheVyonder, to make these series as well.
Punishment Days
[edit]A punishment day is when a character gets many punishments and faces several consequences such as confiscation of a device, corporal punishment, timeouts, yelling, and many others. The event is also intended to inflict as much pain and/or suffering to the receiver (more often than not, a child) as possible.[2] These punishment days are separated into 2 types by this article.
Non-graphic punishment days
[edit]A non graphic punishment day is when a character gets a punishment day, but doesn't get harmed badly or not hurt at all by it's parents, friends, family members or teachers These punishments include spankings, taking or destroying an electronic such as a computer, getting insulted, doing a certain kind of physical fitness, getting turned to a different theme, drinking or eating something spicy, public humiliation, timeouts or getting sent to bed early. Some of these users that makes these video include, Everything PC Gaming, Roku Kun the Vyonder (currently), NathanSaturnBoi, Samster5677, and many more users. This is common with preschool show characters such as Caillou.
Graphic punishment days
[edit]A graphic punishment day is when a character gets a punishment day, but gets violently injured by their parents, friends, family members or teachers, even getting killed in a brutal or swift way at the end. These punishments include, getting assaulted, blinding, deafening, removal of a body part, attacked by weapons (non lethal or deadly), shooting with firearms, forced to commit animal abuse, exploding, skinning alive, boiling alive, burning alive, mauling by animals, bludgeoning to death, taking a scalding or freezing shower, impalement, stabbing with sharp weapons, hanging, electric chair, lethal injection, beheading, dismemberment, amputation without anesthesia, forced to destroy their favorite places, sexual assault, falling to death, castration forced to commit murder on their favorite mascot, burying alive, drowning, bleaching, goring, forced to commit suicide or roasting alive. Users include, Harry Strack the Goanimator, Samster5677, Paperluigi99, RhodeAnimate, RedAnimate, Mass Animate, WOTrueAnimator16, and Abluth Flores Animations, and some other users. Some people like watching these violent videos, but many hate these videos. The users mention get looked down upon by their actions and get hated on and being accused of supporting child abuse, using "dark humor" to get away with their videos not being reported. It is not known if they support this crime or not, but it is likely. These videos violate the Youtube Content Guidelines and makes them at risk for termination if they get enough copyright strikes. They are targeted against fictional characters especially Caillou, Dora and Little Bill.
Mods
[edit]People have been making mods for Wrapper Offline to affect the creators experience.
Custom Assets
[edit]Custom assets are made by many. The custom assets include more facial expressions, more body language, and more clothing. This feature is used by many Goanimators to make their characters appearance more accurate.
Stretching Features
[edit]The stretching features made by Wizard Animate (Kenny Animate) are created for stretching the eyes, nose, mouth, ears, hair or other bodily features wider, taller, shorter, thinner. That also makes the characters appearance more accurate.
FlashThemes
[edit]Tbone, Kenny, Kaneedian, GoTube along with a few users made a cartoon maker based off the old legacy maker called FlashThemes. It included older themes such as WildLife, or Talking Picz. The video maker requires Chromium, and a Adobe Flash Player or Ruffle.
