Emmet is a ghost town in the rural locality of Isisford in the Longreach Region of Queensland, Australia.[1] In 2023, the town had a population of two people.[2]
History
[edit]Emmet was once a prosperous town built around the Emmet railway station (24°40′07″S 144°28′38″E / 24.6685°S 144.4773°E) on the Blackall and Yaraka Branch railway.[2]
Attractions
[edit]The site now contains a picnic shelter and a small museum that is housed in the former railway station building.[2] Its relative proximity to the Idalia National Park makes it a popular stopping off point for tourists.[3]
