Francis-Ikechukwu Onyeka (29 April 2007) is a German professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for the Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

Club career

Onyeka is a youth product of SC Borussia Lindenthal-Hohenlind, before moving to the youth academy of Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 2014 where he finished his development. On 29 November 2023, he signed a professional contract with Bayer Leverkusen.[2] On 15 October 2024, he was named by English newspaper The Guardian as one of the best players born in 2007 worldwide.[3] On 18 October 2024, he won the 2024 U17 Fritz Walter Medal.[4] He made his senior and professional debut with Bayer Leverkusen as a substitute in a 3–0 DFB Pokal win over SV Elversberg on 29 October 2024.[5]

International career

Born in Germany, Onyeka is of Nigerian descent through his father.[6] He is a youth international for Germany, having played for the Germany U17s for 2024 UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualification matches.[7]
