The GeoGuessr World Cup is the top level of professional GeoGuessr competition worldwide. This single-player in-person esports event is organized by GeoGuessr and has been held in Stockholm, Sweden, since its inception in 2023.
History
[edit]After the success of the GeoGuessr Team World Cup in October 2022,[1] the company decided to launch a global edition for individual competitors. In Octuber 2023, it was announced that the final phase of the championship would be held live at the SPACE Arena in Stockholm and broadcast on Twitch.[2]
Format
[edit]The World Cup is divided into several stages. All participants take part in the group phase. The best player from each group advances directly to the quarter-finals, while the second and third-placed players compete in an intermediate stage for a chance to qualify as well. The tournament continues with the semi-finals and the final, which determine the overall winner. All matches are duels played over 10 rounds of 60 seconds each.[2]

GeoGuessr World Cup 2023
[edit]On October 13–14, 2023, GeoGuessr hosted the inaugural GeoGuessr World Cup at SPACE Arena in Stockholm. The tournament featured 24 participants representing 21 countries, with a $50,000 prize pool.[3] The event was broadcast on Twitch, with commentary from streamers such as Trevor Rainbolt, Mohan Govindasamy, and Pala Gilroy Sen. The tournament was eventually won by Dutch player Consus, who defeated French player Blinky in the finals.[4][5][6]
GeoGuessr World Cup 2024
[edit]The second World Cup took place from September 11–14 September, 2024, beginning with a group knock-out stage.[4] The final was held at the Blue Hall at Stockholm City Hall,[7][8] and concluded with 2023 runner-up Blinky winning 3–2 over American player MK, taking home $25,678 as a first-place prize.[9]
