Joy Chatterjee is a paediatric anaesthetist trained in liver transplant anaesthesia & top level medical administrator with more than four decades of professional expertise.

He has been an Honorary Surgeon to the President of India

He has been awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal by the Hon'ble President of India. He has been warded the Flag Officer Commander-in-Chief Commendation (thrice). He has also been awarded the Gaurav Puraskar by Maharashtra State Govt.

Lt Gen Joy Chatterjee is a post Graduate-level teacher par excellence over decades, with vast generation of students, examiner in Maharashtra University of Health Sciences & Delhi University for MD (Anaesthesiology)

Fellowship in liver transplant anaesthesia from Queen Elizabeth Hospital & Princess Diana Hospital for Children, Birmingham, UK

• Special interests: labour analgesia, post-operative pain relief in infants, neonates

• Worked in armed forces hospitals at Mumbai, Delhi, Kochi, Visakhapatnam, Goa, Chilka, & Jamnagar over many years with profound skills & vast experience using state of the art equipment

• A top-level medical administrator & leader with superlative management skills and team-building approach. First-hand experience in planning, preparation and equipping of 140 military hospitals nation-wide during the first & second COVID-19 waves with excellent outcome.

• A pioneer member of the 1st ever liver transplant team of the Indian Armed Forces, carrying out more than 100 liver transplants (both living donor & cadaveric donor) in adults & babies, with success rates matching international figures
