Nazirhat College is a secondary higher education institution situated at Hathazari, Chittagong.[1] It is located on the bank of the river Halda

History

Nazirhat College was established in 1949[2] on the north side of Hathazari area.[3] It was the only institution for study before creating University of Chittagong in this area.[4]

Gopal Krishna Muhuri was the principal of Nazirhat College in Chittagong, Bangladesh, who was murdered in his home in 2001.[5] After he had banned Islami Chattra shibir in his college.[6][7]

On 10 January 2016, water recourse minister Anisul Islam laid the foundation stone for building an academic building and an administrative building of the college.[8] The first principal was Hirendra Lal Sengupta. It was converted to a university college in 1962.[9]
