Oliver Leon Jones (born 1991 or 1992), known professionally as Oliver Stark, is a British actor. He is best known for his roles as Evan "Buck" Buckley in 9-1-1 on ABC, and as Ryder in AMC's martial arts-based drama Into the Badlands.
Early life and education
[edit]Oliver Leon Jones[1] was born in 1991 or 1992 in London, England.[2]
After joining the acting union in the UK, he registered under the name "Oliver Stark" as "Oliver Jones" was not available. He decided to use his late grandmother's maiden name, "Stark", as his stage surname.[1][3]
Career
[edit]Stark's first professional acting job came in 2011 when he was cast in David Alexander's short film Follow for the UK Film Council. Stark then went on to have guest roles in Luther and Casualty.[4]
Stark then had a number of film roles (Underworld Blood Wars) and other TV roles before starring as series regular, Ryder, in AMC's martial arts-based drama Into the Badlands in 2015.[5] Since 2018, Stark has played firefighter Evan "Buck" Buckley, a main character on the ABC drama, 9-1-1.[6]
Personal life
[edit]As of September 2022[update], Stark resides in Los Angeles, California.[7] He has been romantically linked to actress Hannah Gottesman, whom he had previously moved in with before they had even met.[8] In a 2024 interview with Men's Health, Stark spoke candidly about his experience of moving to Los Angeles to pursue acting. He explained that his partner at the time was "much more successful than [he] was" and that she was "having more opportunities possibly come her way."[9]
Stark is vegan.[10]
