• 1921 - The Soviet Union recognises Mongolia as an independent country, thus formalising Mongolian independence from China declared on July 11, 1921. Mongolia was not recognised by the United Nations as separate from China until October 27, 1961.
• 1924 - Puyi, the last emperor of China, was expelled from the Forbidden City by warlord Feng Yuxiang.
• 1986 - USS Rentz (FFG-46), USS Reeves (DLG-24) and USS Oldendorf (DD-972) visit Qingdao (Tsing Tao) China—the first US Naval visit to China since 1949.
