Shamoon Abbasi (Urdu: شمعون عباسی; born 4 April 1973) is a Pakistani actor, director, producer and screenwriter, best known for portraying villain roles.[1]

Family

His father, Zubair Abbasi was a novelist and drama writer, and so is his aunt, Seema Ghazal, whose own son Syed Ali Raza Usama is a well-known director.[2] His sister Anoushay Abbasi is an actress, while his ex-wife, Javeria Abbasi, is a TV personality as well, and their daughter, Anzela Abbasi, is a TV actress too.[3]

Being married to Anoushay, Ainan Arif, the son of late Pakistan international cricketer Taslim Arif and actress Rubina Arif who had the role of "Micheal Magnet" in the 2013 movie Main Hoon Shahid Afridi, is his brother-in-law.[4]

Career

Abbasi began his acting career in 1997 with Titli, a telefilm by Yasir Akhtar, before getting recognition for his comic role in the PTV drama Kashish. In 1999, turning director the same year with the thriller Karoron ka Aadmi.[5]

Abbasi introduced the concept of webseries in Pakistan with his 2007 release #6dapak, which also won international awards.[6]

In 2022, he starred in the drama Bakhtawar.[7]

In 2023, he played the role of alleged Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav, in the movie Dhai Chaal.[8]
