Sleaford is the name given to the ward[2] and suburb[3] of Newark-on-Trent, in the Newark and Sherwood district, in the county of Nottinghamshire, England. It is one of the seven wards on Newark Town Council.[4]

Geography

[edit]

Unlike the other wards, Sleaford is only mentioned in the town council's main seven wards. It covered a small area of Newark. It was focused on an area of Newark Town Centre between the Beacon, Bridge and Castle wards.[5] It does not appear anymore and is likely merged with one of the latter three wards. It was concentrated in a small area between Guildhall Street, Barnby Gate, and Bede House Lane.[6] The ward was likely removed from the main wards of Newark to avoid confusion with the town in Lincolnshire of the same name.[7]
