I've removed the bit about the strike being centred on Liverpool. There were strikes in every major port from 14 June onwards following the NSFU's declaration of a seamen's strike. The only real exceptions were Southampton, where a sailors' and dockers' strike was already going on on 14 June, and London, where it took until August for a waterfront strike movement to develop. It is true that Liverpool has the reputation of having been a high-point of struggle in the summer of 1911, deservedly so, but misleading to suggest that the waterfront strike movement was centred there since it was a nation-wide phenomenon.
