Re-releases

[edit]

Per Trekphiler's edit here. While Box Office Mojo may opt for "lifetime" grosses in its totals, in this instance the lifetime gross for The Graduate is more or less a first-run gross because it has only ever had a single release, except for a couple of limited anniversary runs. You can see the breakdown at http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=releases&id=graduate.htm which itemises each release. The Jungle Book on the other hand has had several major releases, itemised at http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=releases&id=junglebook.htm. Honestly, I think this chart has a lot of problems and isn't fit for purpose, but the problems are lower down the chart, not with the top two films. Personally I would restore the historical Variety rentals chart (which can be found in the page history) and is a better representation of contemporary success. So neither "The Graduate" nor "The Jungle Book", as listed, are the actual annual take, contrary to what you yourself said was the standard for year pages, & to what the reader would expect for a year page. Instead, you demand looking at other links, without specifying the need to do it & without specifying which films do, & don't, need to have special attention. And on top of that, you expect the casual reader to know the difference between "gross" & "rental", or to even realize there is a difference. And you wonder why I'm changing it.
