Number of clubs in each round

[edit]

Could someone record the number of clubs that will take part in each round please. eg 2 clubs in final, 4 in semis, 8 in round six. 80.2.82.110 20:34, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The number of ties (and therefore teams) in each of the qualifying rounds has not been released yet due to the number of exemptions being changed each time a club folds etc. It will all be sorted by Monday week when the draw is released. - fchd 21:06, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Does anyone know where to find out where we can write in how many byes and in what rounds etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Funkyduncan (talkcontribs)
As I said above, it will be released on Monday week, by the F.A. Until then we just don't know. - fchd 19:18, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"New entries this round"

[edit]

How can there be none in the extra prelim round when it's the very first round of the competition..........? ChrisTheDude 07:47, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please refer to this page for the exact details, but I can summarise by saying that that refers to teams which have been given byes for all the previous rounds. For instance, Premier League teams are "new entries this round" in the 3rd Round Proper. We couldn't find a decent wording for it, so any alternatives will be borne in consideration. "Matches postponed pending FA investigation."

[edit]

What's that all about then.....? ChrisTheDude 07:02, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure of the details of one (though my source is the FA's website itself, so I'm sure of it's truthfulness). The Barnt Green Spartak v. Willenhall match result in the Prelim. Round was annulled after Willenhall complained that Spartak played an ineligible player (I don't know who or how they were ineligible, unfortunately). Spartak had been provisionally awarded the win (they won the game) so they were in the draw for the 1st Round Qual. fixtures. But since the previous match's validity was in doubt, the new match couldn't be played. As for the other match (Tiptree Utd v. London APSA), I'm not sure of the details but after a week-long FA arbitration, Tiptree has been stripped of their win and London APSA has gone through in their place. Again, a late decision meant that the 1st Round Qual. fixture couldn't be played. Evidently both FA investigations have just been concluded, and when I first put the postponement comments, all that I could find was that the results were in question and so the 1st Round Qual. games were postponed. Infact, when I first read the FA's website, I thought that the 1st Round Qual. matches themselves were being investigated. Anyway, all three replacement matches have been rescheduled to next week, and as a result of this, Spartak and Willenhall have the dubious honour each of being already drawn for a match in the 2nd Round Qual. when neither have even succeeded in winning in the round two stages before, as can be seen in the bizarre three-way tie to be the away team for fixture 22 of the 2nd Round Qual. ...possibly an FA Cup first, there, (but probably not). Number of clubs progressing to round one

[edit]

"Forty teams from the Fourth Qualifying Round progress to the First Round Proper." - surely this should read twenty teams? Forty matches in the 3RQ will give 20 matches in the 4RQ, which will yield 20 teams to go into the 1RP.....? ChrisTheDude 08:25, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It should surely be 32 teams, to make 80 teams (40 games) in the first round? - fchd 10:24, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're right Richard, I forgot that the Conference National teams don't come in till the 4RQ, giving 40 3RQ winners + 24 Conf Nat teams = 64 teams in the 4RQ..... ChrisTheDude 10:50, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
