Several editors have questioned the wisdom of creating many of the team ice hockey seasons I have created, and although there are merits to these questions, I have, over several months, created season articles for each of the NCAA Division I women's ice hockey teams for the seasons 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17. The reason is simply to make a complete documentation of top-tier US college women's ice hockey, as it had been a) poorly documented, and b) under-reported in comparison to the equivalent mens' teams. There are mixed sets of guidance regarding notability, and I have relied on the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ice Hockey/College Ice Hockey task force/Guidelines, which suggest that NCAA Div. I is subject to article creation. While it may be construed that only notable teams should be treated thusly, I return to the fact that I have created what I hope is a reasonable and worthwhile body of encyclopedic knowledge. The higher level article 2015–16 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season may prove illustrative of this. Note that every Div I team is separately documented by drilling down from here. If an editor feels that I have overstepped, I value that opinion, but I would also look to a consensus/material feedback from the Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/College Ice Hockey task forceand the Wikipedia:WikiProject Women's sport/Ice hockey task force, both of which have a stake in such information.
Please note also, that a few of these articles verge on 'boilerplate' articles. In the long run, I don't feel that this is adequate treatment, and I plan to either address that shortcoming, or even better, have an ambitious editor do so. The same shortcoming can be said for reliance on primary sources. I apologize for these shortfalls, as I had acknowledged some of those in the process of writing.
Finally, It is my intent to document individual players who, at minimum, have reached Conference First Team All-Star status. I believe that this criteria satisfies WP:NHOCKEY, although my reading may be a bit (but not terribly) agressive. Rest assured, many, I daresay most of these players meet notibility standards for other reasons (National Teams, top-tier Professional i.e. CWHL or NWHL). Again, consensus/material feedback from relevant projects would be preferable if one deems deletion necessary.
Thanks for your understanding. I welcome any reasonable actions taken by reliable editors, with deference and respect on my part. Kindly, Bill McKenna (talk) 22:58, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
