This article is predicting the future

I heard it's against the rules of Wikipedia, per WP:CRYSTAL. This article in portuguese has been deleted for this reason Holy Goo (talk) 13:36, 1 March 2017 (UTC)

@Holy Goo: Please actually read WP:CRYSTAL, particularly the first bullet point. Number 57 14:11, 1 March 2017 (UTC)
That's absolutely ridiculous. Have you somehow not noticed that there are articles for the Next Italian general election, or the Norwegian parliamentary election, 2017? Just read the full paragraph in the page you linked to: "Examples of appropriate topics include the 2020 U.S. presidential election...". If the 2020 U.S. election is allowed, then why not the 2018 Brazilian one? Μαρκος Δ 14:14, 1 March 2017 (UTC)

The article in Portuguese doesn't even exist and was deleted for this reason. I figured that if it doesn't exist in the pt wiki it didn't make sense to have it here. Nevermind. Holy Goo (talk) 14:18, 1 March 2017 (UTC)

Each Wikipedia has its own rules, and the rules for one project may not work exactly the same as in others. But, having said that, I have checked the pt equivalent of "CRYSTAL" at "O que a Wikipédia não é#A Wikipédia não é uma bola de cristal". Translated to English, it says that: "Wikipedia can not create articles with speculations that can not be referenced with reliable and independent sources. Articles on future events should be verifiable and should have a broad interest so that they can merit an article, as if it were an event that had already occurred". Shorter than our version, but completely coherent. We can not, of course, say who will win in the 2018 elections; but we can take basically for granted that it will be a notable event no matter what. So, if we can report people reacting in any way towards those elections now (as in, being willing to be candidates or preparing some strategy to have a good performance), then it is justified to have an article about them. We do not have articles for the 2022 or 2026 elections, but the 2018 one is fine, and it should also be at pt wikipedia. If the article was deleted, perhaps you should discuss it with the pt administrator that deleted it, or at some venue of pt wikipedia where most users gather. The thing is that the en-wiki community is not so full of nitpickers and hinderers as the pt-wiki communty. —Virgilinojuca (talk) 01:00, 7 August 2018 (UTC)

Lula

Lula is inellegible because he is the jail (Ficha Limpa ou Lei Complementar nº. 135 de 2010)https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ficha_Limpa) Even though it is very unlikely that he can run due to current law and judicial precedents, he keeps saying through his allies that he made his candidature, that many ong's and institutes and individuals are contesting, in response of so much corruption.

Thus, Lula's name should be moved to Workers' Party possible candidates list until the party drops his name or the court decides he cannot run. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fabiocralves (talkcontribs) 20:30, 16 April 2018 (UTC)

Page need Protection

Based on some issues and disagreements, specially regarding the eligibility of one candidate and the recurrent removal of changes regarding this situation by users that are not long term contributors, this page need at least some levels of Protection to avoid vandalism and other kind of issues. Also, regarding Lula situation, until the final rulling by the Supreme Electoral Court, the candidate should not be tagged as ineligible, save the mention of his conviction on January and how that relates to the Ficha Limpa Law.

Page is being disrupted frequently due to vandalism from unknown sources. Until ruled by the brazilian Supreme Federal Court, the candidate Lula should be included and neutrality preserved.

Not done: requests for increases to the page protection level should be made at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection. L293D ( • ) 02:02, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
