Hitting is directional

[edit]

@Jebiguess: The lead says "... an IED hit a civilian bus ..." while the body of the article says the bus "... hit an IED ..." These statement are inconsistent, only one can be correct. The act of hitting implies a direction from one object to another. If the IED hit the bus this implies the IED had to be moving so it could come in contact with the bus. This would imply the IED was a projectile before it exploded upon contacting the bus. However, if the IED was hit by the bus it would imply the bus was moving. In that case the bus hitting the IED would cause the IED to explode, which would then hit the bus, causing the damage described. In other words, the bus would have been hit by the explosion caused by the exploding IED. The sources are not clear how the roadside IED was detonated, but they agree that the bus was hit by an explosion from the IED. Whether or not the bus hit the IED or the IED hit the bus is not actually supported by the sources, so neither statement can actually be verified. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 08:53, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
