2024 Australian Capital Territory general election → 2024 Australian Capital Territory election – I don't think common name includes the word "general". Support 2024 Australian Capital Territory legislative election and move all other ACT election articles as well. 'General election' is usually used for countrywide elections such as the UK (see 2024 United Kingdom general election), while legislative election (or state election for states) is usually used for subnational elections. Comment. I don't think that's accurate, all elections for Canadian provinces/territories and Australian territories use the title "general election". Several countries also use "federal election" rather than "general election" for nationwide elections. I T B F 📢 08:32, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No they're not, unless I'm misreading you? Apart from the "Australian Senate election" pages it's always YYYY Place [type] election, ie "state election" - obviously "Territory territory election" wouldn't make much sense Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 23:19, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose. "General election" is the terminology used by the ACT government. If we're changing the way Australian election articles are named, this should be raised at a broader forum (e.g. WT:AUSPOL), not having different naming schemes for each jurisdiction. 2024 Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly election would be the best alternative IMHO, but it's lengthier and I don't see a strong rationale for a change. Oppose. General Election is accurate and it feels unnecessary to change. A redirect should be used for 2024 Australian Capital Territory election or 2024 ACT election. But changing the name of the page isn't needed. Also as stated above, it is the terminology used by ACT elections. Basetornado (talk) 11:23, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support, WP:COMMONNAME. While "general election" does seem to be used occasionally, it seems hardly usual. The Canberra Times restricts its use of the phrase to its international coverage [1]. ABC News, for its part, does use the term in connection with Northern Territory elections, but not ACT elections. Googling "ACT general election" gets around 8,000 results, while "ACT election" has 222,000. This, that and the other (talk) 12:44, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

hey, no problem - should be done - although FWIW IMO i don't think FCI and FFP should be on the infobox
FCI is only a party to get Carrick's name on the ballot with a team and obv didn't contest 4/5 electorates, FFP may have had an incumbent verrrrry briefly but hasn't polled much territory-wide - i think it looks cleaner to keep it to ALP/LIB/GRN/IFC
