Error in Title
[edit]Correct Penultimate title is was 2nd King Edward's Own Gurkha Rifles, (The Sirmoor Rifles.) (So-designated January 1st 1906.) (The postnominal possesive ['s] is never tacked onto the sovereign's numeral).
Previous title since 1901 was 2nd (the Prince of Wales's Own) Gúrkha Rifles (the Sirmoor Rifles).

Requested move
[edit]2nd King Edward VII's Own Gurkha Rifles (The Sirmoor Rifles) → 2nd King Edward's Own Gurkha Rifles, (The Sirmoor Rifles) — [The sovereign's numeral is erroneously included in the title of this page. In the authoritative Indian Army List the regiments designation from 1906 was 2nd King Edward's Own Gurkha Rifles, (The Sirmoor Rifles.). Other regiments so distinguished with the sovereign's name follow the same custom in omitting the royal numeral:-
26th King George's Own Light Cavalry,
14th King George's Own Ferozepore Sikhs,
61st King George's Own Pioneers,
130th King George's Own Baluchis (Jacob's Rifles). ] --FwdObserver (talk) 10:44, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
- But the numeral is included when the sovereign is subsequently succeeded by another of the same name.--FwdObserver (talk) 03:10, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
The regiment were named the VII after Edward VIII succeded to the throne. As they were not his regiment and as the final designation this name should remain. --Jim Sweeney (talk) 20:25, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
